A friendly shrine · Est. after one keynote too many
Dedicated to Vince Arter Jr. — friend, careful listener, and the person who noticed that two perfectly good phrases were being asked to do a little too much work.
Scroll · it is buttery smooth
There was a season of Apple keynotes when two phrases kept arriving on schedule: buttery smooth and machine learning. Used once, they are fine. Used as a refrain, they become a drinking game you did not agree to play.
Vince noticed. Of course he noticed. Friends who write software tend to hear repetition the way musicians hear a stuck note. This site is not a complaint department. It is a souvenir — a domain purchased so the observation would have a permanent home.
“And with our latest silicon, the experience is buttery smooth.”
“That’s possible because of on-device machine learning.”
“Which, we should mention, is also buttery smooth.”
Vince closed the stream the way a craftsman closes a toolbox: calmly, and with a plan.
Vince Arter Jr. is a friend with taste, patience, and an unusually accurate ear for marketing cadence. He builds things. He uses serious tools, SuperGrok among them. He did not ask for a shrine. He received one anyway, because that is what friends are for.
Official title, conferred only on this page and carrying no workplace authority of any kind:
Keeper of the Phrase Count
In the spirit of the genre, a brief product family. None of these ship. All of them are dairy-adjacent.
On-device inference with the warmth of a stick left on the counter for twelve minutes.
16-core Cream Engine
One hundred twenty hertz of courtesy. Animations that arrive on time and do not lecture you.

The part that is not a slogan: a tool Vince actually uses, which answers the question and remembers the joke.
Not a keynote feature
Two approaches to the same decade. No vendors were harmed in the making of this table, though a few adjectives were given the afternoon off.
| Keynote register | The Vince register | |
|---|---|---|
| Preferred phrase | machine learning, buttery smooth | the accurate word, used once |
| How it sounds | rehearsed, luminous, inevitable | clear, dry, finished on time |
| Tools of record | a Neural Engine slide | SuperGrok, and whatever else actually helps |
| Ideal outcome | applause | the thing works |
This page is a gift. It is meant to be smiled at, bookmarked, and occasionally forwarded to the person it describes. It is not a biography, not a review of anyone’s work, and not affiliated with Apple — or with butter, except spiritually.
Vince: thank you for the years of good conversation, for the craft you bring to problems, and for surviving a marketing motif with your sense of humor intact. The domain is yours in spirit. The phrases can rest now.
